Mefenamic Acid -ZOPAN DS 500mg

What is it?

Zopan DS is a double-strength (500 mg) tablet of mefenamic acid, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve mild to moderate pain and inflammation

Primary Uses:

  • Menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) and heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia)

  • Postoperative and postpartum pain, musculoskeletal pain, dental pain, headache, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis

Dosage:

  • Adults: 500 mg up to three times daily, taken with or after food to reduce stomach upset

  • Dysmenorrhea/menorrhagia: 500 mg on the first day of bleeding, followed by 250 mg every 6 hours for 3–5 days as needed

  • Treatment duration generally limited to 7 days unless directed by a physician

Precautions & Warnings:

  • GI risks: potential for stomach ulcers, bleeding, intolerance—avoid in those with GI ulcers or bleeding history

  • Not recommended during pregnancy (especially early and late stages) and caution advised while breastfeeding

  • Use cautiously if you have kidney, liver, heart disease, or are elderly dawaai.pk
