Avolac 120 mL – Lactulose Oral Solution (3.35 g/5 mL)

What it is:
An osmotic laxative containing lactulose USP (3.35 g per 5 mL), sold as a syrup in a 120 mL bottle.

Uses:

  • Chronic constipation: Draws water into the colon to soften stools and stimulate bowel movements.

  • Hepatic encephalopathy / hyperammonemia: Reduces blood ammonia by acidifying the gut and trapping ammonia as ammonium, helping with brain symptoms in liver disease.

Onset of action: Typically works within 6–8 hours; best taken at bedtime.
